COUSCOUS (V)

Seeing as I was at home today I thought I'd take the opportunity to make something yummy to eat for lunch. I made this yummy salad and it didn't take long at all!

Ingredients:

Raw Spinach (As much as you like! )
Cucumber
Onion
Couscous
Coriander
Goats cheese
Cup of water

For the dressing I made:

Pesto
Olive Oil
Balsamic or cider vinegar
Pinch of salt

Cous Cous:

1) First it's time to prep the couscous as this needs to stand in order to cook. Bowl some water (enough to fill one - to one and a half cups)
2) Pour one cups worth of couscous into a bowl
3) Chop up about 1/4 of a red onion, depending on how strong you like it add more or less.
4) Chop up a small handful of coriander
5) Add your chopped veggies to the dry couscous and pour 1-1.5 cups of water on top. Cover with a lid or plate and set aside.

The salad:

6) Chuck as much spinach as ya like into a bowl, I used a couple of handfuls...
7) Chop some cucumber up and add it to the bowl...

The dressing:

8) Add one teaspoon of green pesto into a bowl
9) Add a tablespoon of olive oil and vinegar (add more to get it to your taste)
10) add a pinch of salt and mix until it's a pouring consistency

Adding it all together:

11) if the couscous is soft then its ready! Add your couscous mix on top of your salad..
12) pour your dressing on top
13) crumble some goats cheese on top and add some black pepper.

AND VOILLA! Healthy and yummy!
Add as much veg as you like, tomatoes, celery, carrots...you can't go wrong...I was just making the most out of what I had in the fridge :)

MY FOUNDATION WORK

Wonderland - Central Saint Martins Foundation

A collaborative piece by Tasmin Case and Summer Crosse, exploring the relationship between the universality of myth, and the imagination of a child.
Having been pulled out of the ground, this patch of land represents beauty and innocence in an unfamiliar environment, much like the mind of an adolescent. At that point in ones childhood where the world is a magical, limitless place full of all the creatures and places you can think up.  Our inspiration for the landscape came from the Norse Mythological realm Alfheim, where Freyr Goddess of love and beauty is said to have lived amongst the white elves. Fascinated by this concept we decided to recreate what Alfheim may look like thus turning something intangible into something real.

This picture is interesting, my piece is about childhood and imagination, as soon as I clicked to take the picture a child who walk passed rolled the ball they were playing with into the shot.

I wanted to experiment with placing the set in different locations to see how the colours and textures appeared in a variety of environments.

Transform

This was the first 2 week project I did as part of my Performance Design Class (with the foundation after doing short projects in all subject areas you pick your desired field) and the project title was WHERE-WE-ROBE! The brief instructed we come up with a garment that can be transformed into an object. I took inspiration from Native American Teepees and combined with the classic structure of a Victorian under skirt cage.

I was interested in the concept of being able to where an environment, being able to stop at any point and disappear inside what you're wearing.

This technique didn't give the desired affect, it was too small and not strong enough. The corrugated plastic was flimsy and weak, so an alternative method was needed!

Bamboo! There are always materials lying around the classroom so it seemed only appropriate to nab all the bamboo!

Durability is of course important in both homes and clothing, so by using a weaving method I was able to make it as weather proof as possible with the limited materials I had.

Taking it out for a spin! It's a shame I don't have any better pictures! The concept - it's a dress..then you sit down inside twist the top, which closes it, making it almost an igloo like shape. There is also a loose panel of the fabric that acts as a door.
